“I myself have two siblings, and to me, there was something in this piece that reminded myself of us and perhaps that is what drew me to painting it the way I have. I loved the composition of this, each lion balancing out the other. And the way the young lion gaze forward with pride. This was my first painting of more than one subject, so it was important to me to find some kind of flow amongst this piece. I wanted this to represent the family units that make up a lion pride and how, like humans, these beautiful animals have strong social relationships too.”
