I found this photo of a Kudu amongst my father’s photos from his African safari. There was something so appealing in the many textures and shapes woven into this kudu so I knew it was something I wanted to paint. I opted for a white background to create a sense of peace and silence within this piece. I did this as the Kudu has highly sensitive ears, in this piece you can see the ears slightly angled back as the Kudu takes in the quiet surroundings listening out for dangers that might be lurking.
